Surface mold or a leak behind the wall
Surface mold: spots on the ceiling paint, in the grout lines, on the caulk, around the window. It grows on the moisture left in the air after showers. The fix is cleaning, re-caulking, and a fan vented through the roof or the wall, run for twenty minutes after each shower. Under about ten square feet on a hard surface you can do the cleaning yourself.
A leak behind the wall: a wall that is soft or bubbling, tile that has come loose, mold at the base of the wall or on the floor outside the shower, a smell with nothing visible, or the ceiling below the bathroom staining. That is water inside the wall or under the shower pan, and the drywall, the insulation and sometimes the subfloor have mold in them. Cleaning the surface does nothing for it.

How a bathroom remediation goes
Find the leak. Shower pan, tile grout that has failed, the drain, a supply line, the tub overflow, the toilet seal. A plumber fixes it, either before us or as part of the job.
Contain the bathroom. The door is sealed with plastic and a zipper, the vent is covered, and an air machine keeps the room under suction and filtered so spores do not go into the bedrooms.
Remove the wet material. Drywall and insulation around the leak come out, usually the wall behind the shower and a section of floor. Tile on mouldy backer board comes off with it. Everything goes out in sealed bags.
Clean and treat the framing. Studs, plates and subfloor are cleaned, vacuumed with filtered equipment and treated. Subfloor that is rotten is replaced.
Dry, clean, rebuild. Dehumidifiers until the framing reads dry, everything wiped down, then new backer board, tile, drywall and paint. The rebuild is quoted separately so you can use your own tile setter if you want.
Vent the room. A fan through the roof or the wall, sized for the room, on a timer. Without it the surface mold comes back inside a year.
Why it keeps coming back
Because the moisture is still there. A fan that vents into the attic instead of outside (see attic mold), a fan nobody runs, a window that is never opened, a shower curtain that stays wet against the wall, caulk that has gone black and is re-caulked over the top. Cleaning removes the growth for a month. The fix is drying the room after every shower. That, more than any product, is what keeps a Baton Rouge bathroom clear.
